This was an event I remember fondly, but I don't like the poem :)
The Umbrella Man
I stand there staring at the fall
As grey clouds start to weep,
Wondering how I could get home:
A place that I long to reach.
Yet home, she feels so far away
The distance is too deep
And me a stranger in this new town
huddling in the breach
I knew the rain’d be harsh and cold
And the chill, it’d cling to my skin,
But it was a journey I wanted to embark
A chance I was willing to take
And though the flood was ankle deep
And the air was heavy and dank
I took in a breath and steadied my nerves
Before I entered the Storm
At first I was met with similar guests
Their countenance brimmed with a smile
Cheering as they sprinted along
Acknowledgement found a’ last
But when it was dark and I was further along
The only sound was the a splash
It was then that the cold all but caught up
Ready to take my soul
Shivering in my arms, I was
at halt, Ready to stop,
To let the rain wash’et away
All my warmth, my song:
The sparkling flame was smothered away
By the cyclone of doubt
Wondering if it was Worth at all
The rain, the pain, the--
I look up and suddenly the rain it has stopped
Replaced by a teal shade
A staggering stranger stood beside
An umbrella masking the rain
The umbrella man he was genuine kind
And together we had a laugh
Till we found where we needed to go
Our each own respective homes
Maybe it was then the rain finally did stop
Or maybe it went on
But the sun was now starting to smile
And the, warmth it had retuned
You also theoretically can sing this to the tune of "Oak and Ash and Thorn" by The Longest Johns ;)
